Maitland
Valley
Marina - Goderich, ON

As a rookie sailor, I have to say, my
experience with the Maitland Valley Marina
has been wonderful. It is a popular spot
for Americans and the Marina is capable of
holding yachts of all sizes. For those
considering coming for a weekend, some
strong drawing cards are the pool, kept
very clean with a fabulous view of the
docks. Clean washrooms and showers! I'm a
resident and this one factor alone makes
it easy to invite friends for the weekend
knowing the facilities are going to be
ship shape. I can't stress this point
enough. The regular requirements are all
available and definitely up to snuff.
Goderich itself presents a wonderful
package with one of the best beaches from
Grand Bend to Sauble Beach. Nightlife is
ample with many choices for dining and
drinks, planned weekend events (Music on
the beach, Celtic Festival, flea markets)
provides entertainment for everyone. If I
had one negative comment, it would be the
lack of organized racing. I would like to
see more open class Sunday events where we
could get out against our neighbors and
friends from other Marina's and see who is
the fastest. All in all, this has been a
great summer so far, I wish everyone the
best for the remainder of the season and
if you are in Goderich for the weekend,
stop by the "A" dock for a
drink... cheers!
